Chopsticks BraA ‘chopsticks bra’ has been unveiled in Japan for busy women looking to stash their eating utensils whilst on the go.

Bra maker Triumph International is pushing the green message with a bra it hopes will cut down on disposable chopsticks.

The ‘My Hashi Bra’ (or My Chopstick Bra) comes with collapsible chopsticks stashed inside the body of the brassiere.

According to the company they are compact and form part of the bra’s frame.

Triumph spokesperson Hiromi Shinta said: “Its small step, but because many Japanese chopsticks are disposable, big chunks of forests are being cut down. So we thought we could help promote the use of ‘My Chopsticks’ and help cut down on disposable chopsticks.”

Chopsticks were first used in China nearly 4,000 years ago and first went disposable in Japan about 130 years ago.

People in Japan throw away an estimated 25 billion pairs of wooden chopsticks every year, although many of these are made from recycled wood chips.

Burger KingA Californian man ate 103 burgers in just eight minutes to set a new world record.

Officials likened the achievement of Joey Chestnut, 23, to Roger Bannister breaking the four minute mile.

He smashed the previous record of 97 burgers to win the Krystal Square Off World Hamburger Eating Championship.

Brad Wahl, Krystal’s vice president of marketing, said: “We never thought we’d see someone anywhere near, let alone past the century mark when we started the Krystal Square Off in 2004.

“But like when Roger Bannister broke the four-minute mile barrier more than 50 years ago, Joey Chestnut has set a new benchmark today for all moving forward.”

The previous record was held by Japan’s Takeru Kobayashi who won all three previous Krystal Hamburger Eating Championships, but did not compete this year after having a wisdom tooth extracted.

Terracotta soldiers ‘masked’An eco-protester put face masks on exhibits from the Chinese Terracotta Army at the British Museum.

The man jumped barriers to place masks bearing the slogan “CO2 emission polluter” on two of the life-sized figures to highlight China’s poor pollution record.

Security guards intervened after they were alerted by other visitors, reports the London Evening Standard.

Martin Wyness, 49, was dragged away from the 2,200-year-old exhibits and has been banned for life from visiting the museum.

A Chinese official who travelled with the exhibits was inspecting the soldiers to see if they have been damaged.

Security has now been stepped up but Mr Wyness, 49, said he had no regrets about his actions.

“I did it because I have got two children and I am very, very concerned about the global inaction over climate change, particularly what is happening in China.”

My Wyness travelled from his Herefordshire home with daughters Sophie, 14, and Ruby, seven, and insisted he had not damaged the figures.

“It is a shame that I have been banned for life because I love the British Museum, all of their exhibitions are wonderful, but the future of my children is more important than my pleasure of visiting the British Museum.”

A British Museum spokeswoman said: “The British Museum can confirm an incident took place and that the gentleman was immediately detained by British Museum staff. Security measures have been further strengthened.”

Worlds Longest FireworksA Chinese city is hoping to get into the record books by letting off a twelve-and-a-half mile string of firecrackers.

A total of 35 fireworks factories in Liuyang city, Hunan province, have worked together to create the firecrackers.

Zeng Mengxiong, the chief technician of the project, told the Changsha Evening News: “We are doing this to celebrate the upcoming Liuyang International Firecracker Festival.”

Zeng estimates it will take 85 to 90 minutes for all of the firecrackers to explode: “At the beginning and end, the firing speed should be slow, in the middle, really fast,” he added.

The firecrackers will be let off on the opening day of the festival, October 26, when onlookers will be kept back a safe distance.

“We have set up a 10 metre-wide quarantine zone on either side of the string, and will have more than 3,000 guards,” a government spokesman said.

“We aren’t worried about rain, since the firecrackers are water-proof.”

The government says it is applying to have officials from the Guinness Book of Records present on the day of the event.
